Welcome to The Ocelot Spot Gift Shop, Salisbury, Maryland, United States. The Ocelot Spot Gift Shop, located in the former Zoo Administration Office, opened its doors to Zoo shoppers during a grand opening celebration on December 8, 2000. The gift shop features wild Gifts that represent the animals of the Salisbury Zoo, including cuddly stuffed animals, wildlife apparel, and educational toys for kids. The Ocelot Spot Gift Shop is open every day from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm. Don't forget?members of the Friends of the Salisbury Zoo get a 25% discount!
As the holiday season approaches many of us are at a loss for what Gifts to buy our friends and family. The old standards?pink slippers for Aunt Judy and socks for Uncle Frank aren?t cutting it any more. Why not get a gift that makes a difference and has more meaning? The Ocelot Spot will be carrying a line of merchandise from Mercado Global, a member of the Fair Trade Federation. All of the products purchased are handmade by artisan cooperatives and are of the highest quality. Eighty-five percent of sales revenue returns to their economically-disadvantaged communities in Central America. These funds support the cooperatives, either in the form of fair wages employment and investments in local development projects.
The Zoo and gift shop also offer other opportunities for socially responsible consumerism. Proceeds from certain products in the gift shop benefit local and global conservation projects sponsored by our local American Association of Zoo Keepers Chapter (AAZK), Conservation organizations such as Nanticoke Watershed Alliance, Butterfly Conservation Initiative and the Oyster Recovery Partnership are just a few of the organizations they support. Sales from other products in the shop, t-shirts, puzzles, toys, plush etc. directly benefit the Salisbury Zoo, Maryland.
The Ocelot Spot Gift Shop will be open for holiday shopping the week of December 5 through December 9, from noon until 3:30 pm and during Critter Christmas, 6:00 - 8:00 pm.
