Juneau, Alaskas capital, will be the focus of activity this week for the 34th annual Alaska Folk Festival.
What began as a gathering of a handful of local Juneau folk musicians in 1975 has grown into an annual festival drawing gifted artists from all over.
The festival tradition is to feature a guest artist. 2008 will feature Les Amis Creole, a vibrant 4-piece band who dish up a modern take on traditional creole music, drawing on the infuences of R&B, Hip-Hop and Reggae.
The folk festival offers a full programme of 7 days of concerts, dances, workshops and other events with a folksy flavour.
