Welcome to A Wandering Moose in Soldotna, Alaska, United States. A Wandering Moose is the perfect place for the beginner fisherman or someone who wants to fish privately without crowds. There is wilderness across the river and behind us so probably the only people you will see are those in boats, yet we are only four miles from downtown Soldotna.
For the "non-fisherman", the Kenai Peninsula offers biking, hiking, white water rafting, float trips, flight-seeing trips, glacier tours and more. Perhaps you'd enjoy the local visitor centres, souvenir shopping or just settling in with a good book in the privacy of your cabin or in one of the hammocks by the river. We also have a viewing area here where you can sit in comfortable chairs and watch others in your party fish from the bank.
Soldotna is 145-mile drive from Anchorage or a short, 30-minute commuter flight into Kenai, Alaska. A Wandering Moose is just 18 miles from the Kenai Airport. Car rentals are available in both Anchorage and Kenai. We recommend that you drive from Anchorage, as it is one of the most scenic drives you will ever make. You may see Beluga Whales as you drive around Turnagain Arm leaving Anchorage. You will be traveling over mountains, rivers and by glaciers on your way to the Kenai Peninsula and there is always a chance you will see wildlife such as Moose, Bear, and Dall sheep on your way.
A Wandering Moose, Soldotna, Alaska, United States, offers a variety of lodging options. Whether you are travelling alone or with a large party you will feel right at home here. All self-contained units offer kitchens or kitchenettes, private baths and outside grills.
They are all decorated with an Alaskan theme and equipped with continuous hot water. They are all individually heated. We pride ourselves in making sure that you are comfortable during your stay.
