September 2000, nearly 37 years to the day after the original opening, marked the grand reopening of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway and the inaugural trip of the rotating Tramcars.
During an ascent of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway one witnesses' flora and fauna changes equivalent to those seen on a motor trip from the Sonora Desert of Mexico, to the Alpine Fringe in Alaska.
The top of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway offers a myriad of activities year-round for the adventurous and those not quite so inclined.
Cars depart at least every half hour from 10 a.m., Monday-Friday; 8 a.m. weekends and holiday periods. Last car up is 8 p.m. with the last car down at 9:45 p.m.
