Ling Cod Fishing is really starting to catch on. Homer has some of the best Ling Cod Fishing in the world. The current state record is 81 lbs. 6 ounces, a staggering number indeed, however larger fish are soon to be found. One of our captains clients landed an 81 lb 0 oz Ling Cod this year, just ounces from breaking the record. The season for Ling Cod starts on July 1st with a minimum retention size of 35 inches and though this may sound like a lot, more often than not, our Lings on the average come in bigger than that. This year we landed many Lings in the 50 to 60 lb. range with a few even exceeding the 60 pound mark. Several of these big fish were released to be caught another day.

Whole boat charters are encouraged.

If you really want to land trophy Lings we recommend a whole boat charter. It is quite common for us to land incidental Lings on a Halibut charter, however, if you're in search of Ling Cod specifically, you'll want to reserve the boat for your party.
