The Albatross Backpacker Inn offers great facilities such as a modern kitchen, a fabulous lounge, and a spacious dining area, all of which are separate from the sleeping areas. The Hostel itself is situated in a sheltered position in the town making the Albatross a peaceful and relaxing Hostel to spend time in Kaikoura.

We pride ourselves at the Albatross Backpacker Inn on our relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Our building boasts a fabulous lounge to relax in and heated rooms throughout. Guests can make use of the outdoor Bar-B-Q area and veranda if you fancy some al fresco dining. The buildings were once the Kaikoura Post Office, Telephone Exchange and Postmasters Residence and have been designated as Heritage Buildings, in fact, the old post office safe still stands impressively in the reception area!

Other facilities include on-site carparks, Sky TV and video movies to watch for free, pack lockers for those guests wishing to store luggage and internet access including wireless and phone card facilities for travellers wishing to keep in touch or plan the next stage of their trip.
