Jill and Pete rebuilt their home into a modern Bed and Breakfast so that guests can enjoy a high standard of accommodation in Tekapo, Canterbury. You will quickly realise that the colors used throughout the house reflect those that can be seen in the expansive landscape. On entering Lake Tekapo Alpine Vista Bed and Breakfast you will instantly feel relaxed and sense that you are coming as friends into Pete & Jill?s home. The views from all angles are quite breathtaking. Alpine Vista offers 3 guest bedrooms all with ensuites for visitors to Tekapo.

Areas are scattered throughout the gardens where seating is provided for those guests who would just like to get away by themselves to read a book or plan the next day.

Our Guest Rooms are named after the three main rivers that feed into Lake Tekapo, the Godley, the Macaulay and the Cass.

The Godley room offers a king size bed and ensuite with magnificent views of the Southern Alps, Lake Tekapo and the Two Thumbs range.

The Cass room offers twin beds, ensuite with separate bath and shower, and lovely garden views with glimpses of the Southern Alps.

The Macaulay room has a king size bed and ensuite and offers magnificant views of Southern Alps, Mt John, Mt Edward and Lake Tekapo.

At 710 metres (2300 ft) above sea level, Lake Tekapo, in the center of New Zealand's South Island is conveniently situated half way between Christchurch and Queenstown on State Highway 8. The east coast (Timaru) is a 60 minute drive, and New Zealand's highest point (Mt Cook) is 60 minutes further inland.

At the head of New Zealand's largest hydro power scheme, Lake Tekapo fills a valley gouged out by a glacier thousands of years ago. The rich turquoise color of the lake comes from ultra-fine glacial dust suspended in the water.

Visit in the winter and wake to a pristine snow-covered paradise, or in the spring to a flower-blanketed wonderland. Summer offers boating and skiing on the lake, and walking in the hills; or watch the land change through gold and reds in the Autumn.
