Welcome to Arbor Inn, Edgartown, United States. Some say this house was floated over on a barge from the adjoining island of Chappaquiddick at the turn of the century. Others say it was pulled by oxen on a sled of sorts across the icy narrows of Katama Bay. History abounds at the Arbor, but it cannot touch the warmth and hospitality that exists today.
Typically New England in decor, the rooms are furnished with antique and vintage furniture and filled with the fragrance of fresh flowers. Enjoy your delicious continental breakfast in the fireplaced dining room or outside in the tea garden.
The Arbor Inn is strategically located in Edgartown, just a short stroll to the village shops, fine restaurants and the never ending action of the bustling harbor. The bike path to town or beach goes right by the front door, as well as the old fashioned trolley which will stop at the wave of an arm.
Ten sparkling rooms with private baths, completely air conditioned, and an enchanting separate cottage in the rear garden offer just enough privacy and company for your island get-away. A refreshing outside shower when you return from the beach, a snooze in the hammock under the maple tree or a browse through our quaint antique shop are a "must" while you visit.
Life is easy here at the Arbor Inn, and we will gladly direct you to unspoiled beaches, walking trails, sailing, horseback riding, fishing and all the delights awaiting you on Martha's Vineyard.
