Assateague Lighthouse about a quarter mile from Chincoteague Island, Virginia is located in the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge the twin rotating lights that flash from the Lighthouse can be seen 19 miles out at sea. Visitors can climb to the top of the Lighthouse, and enjoy the panoramic view from above, it's breathtaking. Assateague Lighthouse is in the National Register of Historic places and is an active navigational aid, that warns passing ships and local waterman of the shallow waters, it's a wonderful attracion to visit.
