Vasos Varoshiotis was 12 years old when he first went to â??Varosiâ? in 1940 and he started working in Restaurants, washing dishes for a monthly salary of 6 â??groshiaâ? (type of coins, piastres). Being ambitious and with hard work, he managed to buy the business from his boss and he took over the Restaurant, which he run along with his wife Florentia; this became the base of the business success. It soon evolved into one of the most popular family Restaurants, operated by the members of the Varoshioti family. After the Turkish invasion of 1974, the family was forced to abandon it and escape to Larnaca where they settled. Pretty soon they opened a fish-tavern by the beach, offering the good food, the known hospitality, and the required good service that they always offered. Today the Restaurant is in the hands of the familyâ??s next generation and the story continues withâ?¦ the Bailey Irish Pub.
