Sea views have inspired painters and writers for centuries. The Museum Beelden Aan Zee lies near the boulevard in Scheveningen. In 1826, king Willem I built a pavilion on this spot, where his weak spouse, queen Wilhelmina could rest, and enjoy fresh air. Around this pavilion now is Beelden Aan Zee for the occupant and visitor of Scheveningen.
In the sand of the dune architect Wim Quist design the form. The Museum spaces: he added rooms, patios and teracces in two half circles. A ball facing the sea, of charming art for the visitor. The Museum twists as it were for the pavilion and refers everything to the dune around: the views up and aside, the colour of concrete and granite.
