For something decidedly different and entirely enjoyable, the legendary The Blues Train is one of the most spectacular dining and entertainment experiences in Queenscliff, Victoria, Australia.
Nothing captures the spirit of the blues quite like a steam train and anyone who's witnessed the delights of the start of the Great Ocean Road, at Queenscliff, Victoria, from the nostalgic ambience of The Blues Train has experienced something truly special.
As the Legendary The Blues Train makes its way between stops, gently rocking from side-to-side, seemingly in beat with the music coming from the bands, patrons sit back in comfort enjoying both the scenery of the Bellarine Peninsula and the entertainment over a beer or wine (including James Boag's beers from Tasmania and local wines from Scotchman's Hill) and a good laugh.
The Blues Train departs Queenscliff, Victoria, between the months of August and May, offering a unique musical meal and show. With a capacity of 200 (50 in each of the four carriages) it has become enormously popular as a function venue and can accommodate and provide catering for parties of one to 200 people for a unique dinner and show - including weddings, birthday parties, corporate functions, Christmas celebrations and special occasions. You can even get gift vouchers for that someone special.
The Blues Train event begins at the historic town of Queenscliff, Victoria, (home of the Bellarine Railway and the Queenscliff Music Festival). Patrons tuck into a hearty meal prepared by our Blues Train caterers. Drinks to take on the journey are available on the platform from the T-bar in the guard's van, open at each of the four stops.
At each stop revellers swap carriages to find a new band tuning-up ready for the next act. One of the carriages only has seating running along each wall. The seating arrangement and up-beat music in this carriage leaves little option other than getting up for a bit of a boogie.
The Blues Train has hosted a range of quality blues acts including Jimi Hocking, Jaimi Faulkner band, Aria Award-winner Collard, Greens and Gravy, Ash Grunwald, Aria nominees Kerri Simpson and Mia Dyson, CW Stoneking, Spectrum, Chubby Rae and the Elevators, Dave Steel, Chris Wilson and Dallas Frasca and her Gentlemen.
But you don't have to dig the blues to enjoy The Blues Train, you just have to be open to a really good time.
