The Botanical Garden of Padova in Padova, Italy, was originally planted in 1545 with a collection of herbs and plants used for medicinal purposes. To this day the original lay-out of the botanical garden remains relatively unchanged, and has well over 6000 plants. The renowned "Goethe" palm was planted in 1585, and is protected by a specifically-built greenhouse. The Botanical Garden of Padova has other greenhouses with outstanding collections of cacti, succulents, orchids and many other tropical plants, an arboretum with ancient and unusual trees, and we are dedicated to collecting a vast variety of plants for observation and study purposes.
