Bridgewater House in St Leonards-on-Sea, Hastings, East Sussex brings you two homes, Willow Mead and Oak View who support men and women with learning disabilities. Some have additional difficulties like epilepsy, autism, hemiplegia, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or ADHD, bipolar disorder, cerebral palsy and physical disabilities. Willow Mead's residents express themselves verbally with staff using the Makaton and PECS or Picture Exchange Communication System, and the Widgit system is available on the computer to produce meaningful posters and signs. Oak View's residents also use Makaton and PECs books and have facilities to support service users with physical disabilities, it is also fully wheelchair accessible. All residents have a care plan for independent living skills and Bridgewater House also has individual activity plans like work at a local cafe and riding school, there are dance classes, horse riding lessons and a local hydrotherapy pool to name a few, the property has a garden for activities and socials and a fully equipped sensory room.
