Brixham Heritage Sailing

Brixham Heritage Sailing in Brixham, Devon, United Kingdom | Sailing

The Brixham Heritage Sailing, United Kingdom Regatta has its roots in the Sailing Trawler races that have been held in Torbay since 1851. In 1914, King George V presented the perpetual challenge trophy known as the 'Kings Cup', to be raced for by Brixham registered Sailing trawlers over 40 tons. This was competed for annually from 1919 until 1939.

The race was revived in 1997 when several of the historic trawlers, 'Leader', 'Vigilance', 'Pilgrim' and 'Provident', returned home to the Brixham area. The modern event has racing in five classes, allowing traditional Sailing vessels of all types, shapes and sizes to take part.

The event is now a highlight of the traditional Sailing calendar, with traditional vessels of all shapes and sizes competing in a variety of classes.

The Brixham Heritage Sailing event is organised voluntarily by the sailors who run the Brixham based boats, and they aim to provide what sailors want - good Sailing, good competition, good fun and good craic. All money raised is used to fund future events.

Whether you are an traditional boat owner, skipper, crew, enthusiast or spectator, we hope that one day you will be able to join us at  Brixham Heritage Sailing, United Kingdom.
