Harriet Beecher Stowe wrote ?Uncle?s Tom?s Cabin? while living in Brunswick, and Joan Benoit, a Bowdoin graduate, won the Gold Medal at the first Women?s Olympic Marathon in Los Angeles in 1984. She can still be seen running the streets of Brunswick and Freeport.
The Brunswick Golf Club is just minutes from Interstate 295 (Exit 28) and US Route 1. A challenging, well-conditioned 18-hole gem, it is considered by many to be the best course in Midcoast Maine.
