On the outskirts of the pretty village of Gatehouse of Fleet on the Solway coast, the Cally Palace Hotel, set within grounds of over a hundred and fifty acres, has been under the ownership of the McMillan family since 1981.
Entering through the oak doors, the grandeur of the interior is immediately apparent. Two huge marble pillars frame the entrance hall, which leads into the Bow Lounge with its magnificent gilt cupola ceiling.
The warmth of the Scottish welcome will impress as much as the opulence of the surroundings.
In the Finest Traditions
The Cally Palace dates back to 1763, when James Murray, owner of the Cally Estate, chose the superb setting overlooking the Galloway hills to build his country mansion.
Sympathetic renovations and refurbishment under the personal supervision of the McMillan family have restored the Cally Palace Hotel to its former glory, allowing guests to enjoy the ambience of a bygone age.
Spacious Bedrooms
All 56 comfortable ensuite bedrooms and suites have been furnished in a traditional style, but with all modern conveniences including satellite television.
The little touches make the difference - from the complimentary sherry on arrival to the fluffy bathrobes and huge bath towels.
Cally Palaca Hotel Exclusive Golf and Course Plan
The Cally Palace has its own 18 hole parkland golf course. Designed by the well known golf architect Tom Macaulay, the Cally Course opened in 1994.
The course is for the exclusive use of guests and the welcoming atmosphere will guarantee a relaxing but challenging round. No members, no competitions, just exclusively yours to enjoy! Sculpted into the parkland surrounding the Hotel, its maturity belies its age, achieved by using the natural contours of the land and the magnificent trees, the hidden burns and the Cally Lake. Golf buggies are available for hire, and there's also a practice area and putting green.
As you play the course, there are wonderful views of Cardoness Castle, Rutherford's Monument and the Fleet Estuary. Whatever the standard of your game, you are sure to enjoy the course, and to work up a healthy appetite for the evening's culinary delights at The Cally Palace Hotel.
