Welcome to Canales Italian Restaurant, Oswego, United States. Canales Italian Ristoranté, Oswego was started in 1954, by brothers Mike and Dom Canale. The idea to open a restaurant came from their mother Anna's great cooking. Anna and her husband Nick (Sarge) came to the United States in 1919 from Morolo, Italy. Morolo is a small mountain town about 60 miles southeast of Rome, near Frosinone. Anna had the skill to cook anything and make it taste like a gourmet meal. Mike and Dom got their chance when Joe Conzone decided to sell his neighborhood bar and restaurant. Joe catered to the neighborhood boys, most of whom were from Italy, many from the same small villa of Morolo.
Well armed with Anna's recipes, "a touch of this and a dash of that", and for a while Anna herself. They started Canales Ristoranté. Forty years have passed since and four expansions to make Canale's the famous restaurant it is today.
Mike is famous for saying "Mangia, Beve, a Saluté" which means, eat, drink and be healthy. Naturally if you know Mike, when he says drink he is referring to wine. So relax and enjoy your meal and try a glass of wine from our selected list. We are very proud to continue the traditions that Mike and Dom started back in 1954, and are still using Anna's recipes today. After you have enjoyed your meal and wine you can thank Anna as you leave. The portrait of Anna and Sarge graces our entrance.
