Welcome to the Canberra Bicycle Museum, Canberra, Australia, The Canberra Bicycle Museum has been set up at 3 Rosevear Place, Dickson not far from where it was at the Canberra Tradesmens Union Club.
There are 200 cycles on display, some old, some modern, but all interesting and different. Another 500 are in the basement in storage. Lack of floor space prevents us from displaying there properly.
We actively aim to conserve for the public any historically significant item that is related to bicycles. Our collection of historical material currently contains (but is not limited to):
* Bicycles from all periods * Literature such as books, magazines, posters, current media featuring cycles * Tools, examples of cycling growth and change * Advertising material such as posters and flyers * Riding equipment * Examples of World bicycle culture, e.g. Asian bicycles, European bicycles, Military bicycles
A research facility has been set up, with books, magazines, posters, photos and cycling ephemera. This is at the same location as the Museum, 3 Rosevear Place Dickson, and is accessible on Wednesdays and Saturdays also. As well as having the bikes, the Canberra Bicycle Museum also participates in community events whenever possible, so as to display the bikes and let people see them. Our collection has been used to create displays in ACT Government shop fronts, public libraries, banks and private businesses. We have participated in various community events, such as fairs and parades.
