Capitaneria Di Porto is a Corps of the Marina Militare (Italian Navy) and has tasks and functions connected mostly to the civil use of the sea but also includes Search and Rescue.

Amongst the many functions that this organisation has in Italy as well as Palinuro, these include Search and Rescue in sea (SAR) for which the entire organization of co-ordination, control, detection and communications are active for 24 hours a day.
