Castle Carini, a fortress in the Norman period situated in Carini, Italy is a wonderful tourist Attraction.
Castle Carini underwent several changes along the centuries; the recent restoration brought to light an overlapping of styles in its plan and architectural structure. Surrounded by the ancient medieval village, where traces of the first walls can be seen, it still preserves significant remains of the Norman fortress.
The north wing, instead, overlooking the court and the valley with its remains of gothic double and three-lancet windows, dates back to the XIV century. The changes brought in the XV and XVI century are deeper and show the Catalan gothic taste of its new owners; it is the same Spanish plateresque taste characterizing Sicilian architecture in the first decades of the XVI century drawing much attention to this tourist Attraction.
In the late XVIII century, when the old aristocracy moved to the city, the Castle Carini was modified again to turn into a holiday residence.
