The Chambers was built in 1904 and housed the public library and council administration offices until 1977 when the Council purchased the old BNZ building on Seddon Street to house the library. It then remained the council chambers until 1999 at which time the lease was purchased by Mrs Eunice Smith and a full refurbishment and fit out was completed and Chambers Wine Bar & Restaurant opened. The original safe now serves as our wine cellar in the bar and many original Council maps of Waihi and photos adorn our walls.
In 2004 David Bulpitt and Bronwyn Jesney purchased the Restaurant from Eunice and are the current owners. David is from England, Bronwyn grew up in Waihi and the couple met while working in Vietnam. Both have extensive experience in the hospitality trade. We are a 55 cover Restaurant specialising in providing innovative cuisine combined with excellent service. We are open for lunch Tuesday-Friday 11am-2pm and dinner Tuesday-Saturday from 6pm. With a cosy wine bar and courtyard area open from 5pm Tuesday-Friday, this is the perfect place to chill out and enjoy the local surrounds.
