Welcome to Chapel Hill Bed and Breakfast, Greymouth, West Coast, New Zealand. Chapel Hill Bed and Breakfast Accommodation is a country homestay only 15 minutes south of Greymouth in the beautiful Marsden Valley, on the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island.
Marsden Valley was settled like the rest of the South Islands West Coast. First came the Maori looking for ponamu or greenstone (jade). Then gold was discovered in the 1860?s bringing many nationalities including Chinese, Americans and Europeans.
Chapel Hill has three guest bedrooms. Room facilities include electric blankets, heaters, clock radios, and hair dryers. There is a separate digital TV room, and guest fridge in the foyer, with tea and coffee available at all time
The first chapel for early Marsden village was on this property and the house was built to reflect that with huge chapel doors, stained glass windows and beams. Built to catch the sun and amazing views, the native forest is so close you can reach out the windows and touch it.
The small hill on the road passing the property is still named Chapel Hill to this day. It is an amazing coincidence that the first guests at Chapel Hill were an American couple (and their son) from Chapel Hill in North Carolina!
Chapel Hill is just 40 minutes from glorious Lake Brunner, Lake Mahinapua and 50 minutes from Lake Kaniere. Fish, boat, swim, picnic, or just relax over a coffee or two in the most beautiful surroundings you can imagine.
