Welcome to Child Care YMCA, Owen Sound, Canada. The Owen Sound Family YMCA Child Care program provides parents with a variety of options for children from 18 months to 12 years.
The Family Child Care YMCA, Owen Sound is committed to providing a play-based program with a strong emphasis on the philosophy of Reggio Emilia. With the practice of empowering children to more actively participate in the learning process. Through short and long term projects, children have the opportunity to satisfy their curiosity about a particular concept. This includes developing children's thinking skills through questioning, valuing children's ideas and documenting their thoughts and theories for parents, children, staff and visitors to see. Activities and projects are completed based upon the child's own sense of time rather than a rigid, prescribed plan. Through this acknowledgement it give the children confidence in their own abilities.
We also strive to heighten the children's senses through providing a natural, unique and safe environment filled with color design, light and shadow. Experimentation with all kinds of artistic media is encouraged and is an important part of the program.
The staff at the Child Care Centres have credentials in Early Childhood Education and experience in the field. The staff are caring professionals dedicated to working with parents toward a common goal: the best development of your child.
