While many changes have been made since it was first opened in Thunder Bay, much of Chippewa Park’s initial charm has been retained through the preservation of the original dance hall/pavilion which now acts as the focal point for special events such as weddings and reunions.
Chippewa Park has been the home to a range of amusement rides since the early 1920's. Today, anchored by the Historical Carousel, Chippewa Park boasts a small midway. For the younger set they can choose between the tanks, planes and boats to ride on. For the older visitor , the tilt a whirl, bumper cars and the roller coaster will give you a thrill.
The Tourist Camp at Chippewa Park currently offers for rent 22 log cabins. We have 7 new cabins which a e electrically heated, with two queen size beds, table and chairs and are wheel chair accessible. The 7 new cabins also have beautiful wooden decks for relaxing in the sum or looking out at the water. Chippewa Park also has 15 historic cabins for rent, 5 with two double beds and a cot, and 10 with just the two double beds. All cabins come complete with linens, table and chairs, a small cupboard and a wooden stove. Washrooms and showers are located in central buildings.
