Welcome to Clarence House Guest House in Derry, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. Clarence House was bought and founded by the late Mr Thomas Slevin in 1962 and is now over forty years in business. The house itself is 106 years old as it was built in 1899. It is an old Victorian town house, which was a private home, owned by the late Mr Hazlet, until it was taken over and converted into a Guest House and run by Mrs Eleanor Slevin until she retired in 2002. It was originally the only Guest House or Bed and Breakfast in the city, then in the late 60`s early 70`s Mr & Mrs Thomas Slevin established Ardowen Hotel, just two minutes away from the guesthouse. After six years, however, it was the last hotel in the city to be bombed as part of the troubles. Following this, we returned to Clarence House and have been here ever since. We are well known throughout the city and further a field.
ravellers have also visited us from all over the world and we owe great thanks to the local community who have helped build up our reputation through out the years.
Since 1st February 2002 from the retirement of his mother, the guesthouse today is run by
Mr Michael Slevin who will always have a warm welcome for everyone.
It is now three stars by the N.I.T.B. and three stars by the AA Hotel Service and a licensed guesthouse and hopefully will continue to be run to the excellent standard that has come to be expected of us by our customers and ourselves.
Clarence House is only five minutes away from the Republic of Ireland and beautiful Donegal with its wonderful golf and fishing right on the doorstep.
