Cliff House is a family-friendly detached house, set above Bournemouth's beach in Southbourne, England. The building dates from the 1880s and during its lifetime has been a Boy's School and private dwelling. In 2003 it was completely stripped and rebuilt by architects and interior designers to provide a very high standard of accommodation and conference facilities.
Bedrooms - There are just 14 bedrooms in Cliff House which are spread over two floors. Each has been individually redecorated and refurbished by an interior designer in 2003, to the specification of the English Tourist Board - making each room comfortable and stylized.
Every room has adjustable central heating and is equipped with:
Remote control colour TV, (with freeview channels)
Direct-dial telephones and modem ports, Hospitality trays
Hair dryers, Towel rails, Tea and Coffee making facilities.
There are two room grades; Standard and Superior, which reflect the size and location of the rooms.
Conference Facilities - Cliff House is a great place for medium sized conferences, company training, retreats and meetings.
Conservatory - Located on the ground floor the conservatory is an extension of the restaurant and looks out across the patio and garden.
Restaurant - Breakfast, evening meal, Sunday Carvery and midweek specials are served by friendly staff in our charming restaurant and conservatory, which offers a traditional home-cooked menu to guests and non-residents.
As the centre is owned by a temperance organization it is unlicensed and is one of the few completely non-smoking hotels in Southbourne/Bournemouth, creating a pleasant family atmosphere conducive to relaxation.
Cliff House's full time chef cooks to a very high standard, using local produce where possible in order to minimize the impact of transportation on the environment and to ensure freshness.
We additionally operate an ethical purchasing policy based jointly on sustainable development, good employment practices and quality - our tea and coffee for example are Fair Trade products which give growers a fair deal and the drinker a great taste!
Garden & Patio - The intimate garden of Cliff House boasts some exquisitely beautiful pine trees and well tended beds of seasonal flowers and shrubs. The patio's garden furniture is a great place to sip a cool drink in the sun under the shade of a canvas umbrella.
Clifton Room Lounge - The comfortable Clifton Room is furnished with very comfortable 'Parker Knoll' chairs and sofas, and is great place to relax, read a book, meet with friends and play board games or watch TV/DVD.
There maybe occasions, especially during the off-peak season, when the lounge is closed for private functions or conferences, notice of which will be displayed in advance.
Wheel Chair Access - Regrettably, there is no lift in the main building to take guests to the First floor. All the public areas on the ground floor, however are accessible to wheel chair users, including the patio, garden, conservatory, car park, reception, lounge/conference room and dining room.
Also on the ground floor, we have one larger twin en suite which is equipped with disabled facilities, and an additional public toilet which accommodates wheel chair users who maybe visiting the centre.
Southbourne/Bournemouth has all you need for a fun packed holiday, relaxing break, or a party weekend - to suit any budget. Seven glorious miles of sandy beach are the main attraction but being nestled between a national park and a heritage coast means there is something to keep everyone happy!
