Opened in July of 1999 by co-owners Matthew Burns and E.J. Gordon, "The Angler" specializes in bringing a global fusion theme to the menu. We are always very excited to showcase dedicated young culinary talents to Muskoka.
For the summer season of 2005 however, we will be on hiatus, with our top rated Restaurant in Muskoka. Operating since 1999 the Restaurant features fresh and salt water seafood, top grade meat and vegetarian cuisine and a stellar wine list. We look forward to seeing you in person in the spring of 2006 when we relaunch at our new location in Port Carling. Stayed tuned for Chef announcement and special winemaker evenings this coming 2006 season! This new waterfront locale nestled on the Indian River, beyond featuring the new open kitchen concept 60 seat "Angler" room, will also host our new twenty-eight room state of the art boutique hotel property, upscale retail shops and a second 250 seat Restaurant , a golf themed mid-market steak house called The Links Grille, which was launched this past season.It won in it's first season, best fine dining Restaurant for Muskoka, thanks to Toronto Chef Mackenzie Taylor. This fall and winter season will be a hectic one as we continue to expand our operations, we have added a new casual eatery (formerly The Crestwood Restaurant) called The One18 Diner, other announcements will be made shortly in regards to additional Restaurant property acquisitions one of which will be another fine dining hot spot!
Our Mission Statement
At The Compleat Angler and our other Restaurant properties, we strive to bring you the best dining experience possible. However above our creative culinary team's mission to provide either eclectic or more traditional seafood menu offerings is our responsibility to the world's aquatic ecosystems. We are strong advocates of many science research based charity organizations including the Endangered Fish Alliance, the World Wildlife Fund, The Billfish Foundation, OceanWatch and believe strongly that the Restaurant industry needs to be far more proactive and involved in issues involving the world's aquatic ecosystems.
