The Consulate Luxury Suites and the Grady Market are legacies of a vintage Apalachicola business, J.E. Grady & Co. Both the Consulate and the Grady Market are located in the Historic Grady Building along the banks of the Apalachicola River in Historic Apalachicola.
In the mid 1800s, Apalachicola was a bustling shipping port in North Florida's Panhandle region. In 1884, John E. Grady founded J.E. Grady and Co., a ship chandlery originally located in one of the three story cotton warehouses that once lined the Apalachicola riverfront. For more than 100 years, the Grady Building as stood as a silent sentinel to more than a century of change along the shores of the Apalachicola River.
Today, the Grady Building is a part of a larger Grady Complex, nearly an entire city block in Apalachicola which has been restored to its turn of the century luster. The Grady Complex is made up of the Consulate, luxury riverfront Suites, The Grady Market, delightful shopping, and the Apalachicola Exchange, which will soon feature additional unique retail shops.
