The Devonport Garden Room is a newly designed private sunny self contained studio/cottage set in the tranquil grounds of an 1870's villa in Devonport, Auckland, New Zealand. Grape arbours, brick courtyards and tropical gardens separate the accommodation from the main villa and it has its own separate entrance and parking. Large French doors open out from terracotta tiled floors and billowing calico curtains onto a tranquil villa garden of old English roses together with plantings of tropical vegetation.
At Devonport Garden Room you may enjoy your breakfast in the sunny courtyard or in the privacy of your room. Our breakfasts include tropical and seasonal fruits served with our own homemade muesli and yogurts, croissants or muffins, warm home-baked breads and free range eggs and Danish Bacon with good coffee and a selection of teas.
The fully equipped kitchenette is stocked with daily essentials in case you decide to make your own breakfast and stay at the independent rate. You may have breakfast supplied to your room or choose to supply your own.
Within the garden room, there is an ensuite bathroom, television area, dining table and comfortable easy chairs. A large bay window seat converts into a roomy single bed for the accommodation of an extra person. There is a queen size bed and a roll away bed available (see rooms). Enjoy the luxury of crisp cotton sheets on your beds and cosy bath robes for your convenience.
Laundry, fax, and internet facilities are available in the villa.
You may wish to have a coffee with us in the villa and enjoy the sunny spaces and pressed steel ceilings of the Victorian era. In the courtyard, there is a barbeque and outdoor eating area with a spa pool available for your use. There is also for your privacy a table, chairs and sun umbrella outside your accommodation.
Devonport is a charming historic seaside village, a 10 minute ferry ride from downtown Auckland and a shuttle bus ride from Auckland airport. From the city it is a 20 minute drive over the Harbour Bridge.
This unique marine village offers an array of beautifully restored 19th century villas and other architecture, quaint village shops, art galleries, museums, trendy cafes and good seaside restaurants. From our gate you may wander onto Cheltenham Beach for a refreshing swim before a walk to the summit of North Head where you may explore the underground tunnels, chambers and gun emplacements erected in 1885 to defend Auckland from invasion.
