Welcome to The Dog & Duck Pub in Austin, Texas in the United States, the proud winner of the Chronicle's Best Austin Pub Grub Award for 2008.

In the 1970's the building at 406 West 17th had been a popular restaurant and bar called Mrs. Robinson's.  The Dog & Duck Pub opened in May 1990.   The tin ceiling, fireplace and mahogany bar were already fixtures of the interior.  The owner, Susan Forrester, had at that time collected duck decoys and her then husband Bill was a veterinarian, thus the name The Dog & Duck Pub.

In 1991, The Dog & Duck Pub sistered with The Dog & Duck Pub in London.  Today the London pub is owned by a brewery and The Dog & Duck Pub in Austin remains a freehouse.

A scene from Miss Congeniality with Sandra Bullock (2000) was filmed at  The Dog & Duck Pub

And what the hell is a Willie Burger? Well, there was a fella named Willie Brown who helped renovate the building in Austin, and then worked in the kitchen. He invented a great combination of swiss, bacon, jalepenos and burger, so send the late great Willie is thought of every time you enjoy a Willie burger.

Locally owned and operated since 1990, The Dog & Duck Pub occupies an old building filled with ambience that includes a pressed tin ceiling, mahogany bar, pub-couch seating, and hardwood floors.

The Dog & Duck Pub has a lot to offer in its English pub atmosphere, new lighted covered back beer garden, new expanded outdoor deck, waitstaff, free wireless internet and three TVs.   The Dog & Duck Pub also has three outdoor seating areas, pool table, golf, darts and a jukebox filled with everything from Sinatra to Heavy Metal, and ATM machine and hardwood floors with cushiony pub-style booths.
