Fishing was revolutionized in the middle of last century with the discovery of lots of hooks on one line producing more fish, thus trawling was born and afterwards even more fish could be hauled by taking lots of little boats onto the schooner then carrying them out to the banks, and thus dory fishing was born. The Dory Shop Museum was built by John Williams in 1880, and along with other businesses helped produce thousands of dories during the years of the famous Grand Banks fishery from 1880 - 1971, come learn all about this wonderful history and see the craft.
