Welcome to Earth and Sky, Observatory, Lake Tekapo, New Zealand. Earth and Sky is a local business based in the Lake Tekapo township and at Mt Cook Village, in the middle of New Zealand's South Island. We organise daytime guided tours of Mt John Observatory as well as night stargazing tours at both Mt John and Mt Cook National Park.
Our visitors at Earth and Sky come from all over the world and we are pleased to be able to provide guides speaking English, Japanese, Dutch, German and Mandarin Chinese. Not all guides may be available on a particular night so please enquire.
Take a day time drive or hike to the Observatory on the summit of Mount John, 300 metres above Lake Tekapo, and dine in our new Astro Cafe. Or enjoy a cuppa before a day tour of the Observatory.
See our Mt John tours page or Mt Cook tours page for further details.
In the heart of New Zealand's South Island lies one of the country's best-kept secrets, Lake Tekapo.
Located in the Mackenzie Basin at the base of the Southern Alps, Lake Tekapo boasts the breath-taking scenery of the lake and surrounding mountains that impresses even the most well-travelled tourist.
