East End Community Arts Project is a registered Scottish charity established in 1985, with the aim of making arts more accessible to local residents in the East End of GLASGOW, Scotland in the United Kingdom. Initially our services at East End Community Arts Project were geared towards the visual arts, but our remit has now widened to include dance, drama, video and music.
East End Community Arts Project adheres to a community arts ethos and aims to use artistic activities in ways which provide educational and diversionary opportunities for disadvantaged adults and young people with special emphasis given to those affected by social exclusion. The majority of our Outreach Programme is community based and involves children and young people. Often this work is developed in collaboration with other agencies and organisations not directly involved in the arts.
Throughout the year East End Community Arts Project in GLASGOW, Scotland organises a range of projects, workshops and events and whenever possible we aim to respond positively to initiatives and requests from the community. We provide ongoing free advice, support and in-house training in the arts to community groups and currently we are the main organisers of the East End Community Festival, which is held annually, is developed in participation with the community and attracts over 6000 people.
At East End Community Arts Project our aims for the Children's Theatres are that we will enable children and young people to develop skills in the performing arts and in so doing, develop both individual and collective self- esteem and confidence and provide a safe environment within our Children's Theatres, giving participants the opportunity to be creative and self-expressive.
