Elephant River Guest House lies nestled in the historical village of Clanwilliam (7th oldest in South Africa), at the foot of the majestic Cederberg mountain range in the Western Cape West Coast Region.
These mountains are world renowned for their Bushman rock art, rock climbing and mountain trails all within easy distance. We are also 60kms from the unspoiled Western Cape West Coast and situated on the highway to Namibia, so providing a welcoming stop-off.
Elephant River Guest House built is 1911 is within walking distance of shops and restaurants, bowls, tennis and squash and is 5 minutes drive from the Clanwilliam dam, (popular for ski-ing and bass Fishing).
We offer off-street parking, a large fruit-tree filled garden with an inviting pool. There are 4 en-suite chalets to choose from (2 with twin singles and 2 with double beds), individually furnished with brass beds and mosquito nets, refreshment facilities, fridge and TV.
We have braai facilities under old vines and stars and the South African charm and West-Coast hospitality that brings back guests every year to see the world-famous spring flowers (August-September), the unique Rooibos tea-growing farms and the untamed natural beauty.
Mountain horse riding, day Walks into the Cederberg to Cederhout Kop, Beauty Therapy, Self-defense lessons and Aerobics classes can all be arranged for the active at an extra fee. Or if you would rather, simply sit and relax under the trees, admiring the mountains or stars!
