Famous 1800?s Historic Replica Cottages: The Salt Box cottage (pictured above) began to appear around 1870. The name Salt Box came from the design derived from an actual box of salt with the cedar roof short in the front and very long in the back. It was a typical house of the era, quick and easy to build. It was either a two story or a story and one-half. The stove was the sole heating source thus making the half story so small the people would roll into their beds and stay warm.

The Steep Gable Roof Cottage began over 200 years ago. The name came from the peak roof that created a triangle at the ends of the houses called a gable. Wooden shingles were used cut by hand. This too is a story and one-half.

Take a trip on a zodiac and spend precious moments with these very intelligent whales who enjoy the company of people who respect them and will not harm them.

Icebergs - These massive pieces of ice have broken off glaciers in Greenland and Canada's Artic. They drift by Bonavista, in "Iceberg Alley", starting in May and sometimes lasting well into August each year (Mother Nature does have control of this however). These icebergs are thousands of years old and provide breath-taking shapes that you will always remember.

The Cape is located less than 2 km from Bonavista and contains The Dungeon and further up the road is the Lighthouse.

The Cape is 2 km of grassland and pasture that drops off where the ocean has caressed the land into large cliffs. It truly is stunning with the many wildflowers and farm animals out and about.

Skerwink Trail - Rated one of the top 10 Trails in the World, this is a 5.3 km looped trail. View seabirds, humpback whales and unique rock formations known as "Sea Stacks". This is only one of many hiking trails on the Bonavista Peninsula.
