The E-T-E Fund aims to sponsor the complete education, Grade 1 through tertiary education, of initially five children each year from both Masakhane Creche in Masiphumelele and Green Curtains Pre-Primary School in Ocean View, both in a Township near Cape Town.
The 5 children from each pre-School who exhibit the most talent, determination and potential will be selected by the teachers and E-T-E Board with the approval, support and consent of all parents.
The E-T-E Fund will pay for and monitor the education of each child, with a small contribution from their parents and from the Schools to ensure the buy-in and full commitment of all parties.
The E-T-E will profile the progress of each child on an ongoing basis to keep the contributors informed about the achievements of the children and to demonstrate their contributions are helping real children to grow in very real terms.
Through its website www.e-t-e.org, the E-T-E Fund will raise finance from around the world by encouraging businesses to link the E-T-E's "Click here to Start a Childs Education" button on websites around the world.
Donations can be made live on www.e-t-e.org , with the contributions being listed in order of size. This will encourage a 'bidding war' whereby businesses contribute more to maintain their position in the contributors' window.
The E-T-E will be administered by a trust comprising members from the Rotary Club of the Cape of Good Hope, the VDP (Valley Development Project), Linda Lamb, Herbie Eichel, Full Circle and community representatives.
