Enjoy serene days and breathtaking sunsets at Escape Harbor Marina.
Escape Harbor Marina in Beach Haven Gardens is a unique type of marina. owners Tim and Robin Howard decided they wanted a marina that would have a peaceful, laid-back type atmosphere. The hustle and bustle of activities with grease, oil and gas pumps would not be found at their marina. This would be a place to dock your boat and relax without the din of normal marina activities around.
The Howards bought this 60 slip facility in 1985. The facility was formerly Captain Clover's Dock. Escape Harbor Marina now encompasses a small part of land on the lagoon on 32nd Street and the much larger area on the bayfront between 31st and 32nd Streets Beach Haven Gardens, United States.
Amenities: A combination of sailboats and powerboats share the 60 slips here with boats ranging in size from 15 to 40 feet in length. A minimum of five and a half feet in depth in both the marina and entrance channel make navigation around here easy even for the larger boats. A large fenced lot provides plenty of off street parking for slip-holders and their guests.
Security is good here with Jason Zecca, a full-time dockmaster, always around. The dock itself is well lighted at night, with overhead lights spaced every 25 feet. With the condominiums overlooking the boat slips, all of the boats are very visible at all times.
There are two sets of bathrooms and showers which are kept locked so that they are both secure and well kept at all times. There is also a small coin-operated laundromat for the convenience of the boaters.
All slips come equipped with water and electric, and boat owners have the option of establishing their own phone and cable television service.
There are three restaurants within a short walking distance of Escape Harbor.
Recreation: With so many owners remaining here for so many years, there is a real community bond here. Man of the owners spend weekends and vacations on their boats, so they get to know their neigboring boaters quite well.
The Howards sponsor several yearly picnics and gatherings for their customers, including a 20 boat flotilla to Atlantic City this past season. Twenty boats went down together and spent the weekend there.
For boaters interested in fishing, the surrounding bay waters are rich in marine life. Little Egg Inlet and its' access to the Atlantic Ocean is about five miles to the south.
