Farm Lodge Country House Hotel - This is the only Hotel situated in the peaceful scenic countryside of St Helena, where the climate is some five or more degrees cooler than in Jamestown. It was built about 1750 as an East India Company planterâ??s house, and is encompassed in some 5 acres of its own grounds with lawns and lush tropical gardens.
The property has undergone major refurbishment in recent years to restore it to its former Georgian elegance.
There are many places of interest close at hand including Plantation House (the Governor's residence), St Paulâ??s Cathedral, the Agricultural Station at Scotland, two arboretums, Rosemary Plain and Lemon Valley, most of which are within easy walking distance. As there is no regular public service transport on St Helena a vehicle for travelling longer distances would be most desirable. It is possible for hire-drive arrangements to be made but this should be booked in advance.
Services offered are full board with the option of continental or full board English breakfast, mid-morning coffee from locally grown coffee plants, light or salad lunch, afternoon tea and a substantial evening meal with silver service.
