Centrally located in Haines Alaska--near both downtown Haines and historic Fort William H Seward--Fort Seward Lodge,is renowned for its warm and friendly ambience, affordable accommodations, inviting restaurant, and popular saloon.
Built in the early 1900s, this historic building formerly housed the fort's Post Exchange. It was an important part of Fort William H Seward (now an historical landmark), the then regimental headquarters for all of Alaska. The fort was deactivated in 1946 and bought by a group of veterans.
The original building of the Fort Seward Lodge included a soda fountain, gymnasium, movie house, library, and a 2 lane bowling alley. It has been extensively remodeled during the 1990.
Fort Seward Lodge is within walking distance of downtown, museum, cruise-ship dock, boat harbor, visitor center, and local hiking trails.
While staying with us, enjoy fishing, hiking, beachcombing, eagle and wildlife watching. Visit the museum or just relax on our huge outdoor deck while you soak up the sun and marvel at our sweeping fjord view.
