The Glyfada Golf Club is a green oasis of rolling hills, landscaped with mature trees and shrubbery.
The Glyfada Golf Club is located in the seaside town of Glyfada which is a suburb of Athens, Aegean Sea, Greece. The course is an 18 hole, Par 72 course and was designed by Donald Harradine.
The Glyfada Golf Club opened in 1966 and has continually hosted such events as the World Cup Tournament in 1979 , the Mediterranean Gamers in 1992, and for the past three years, the PGA Senior Greek Open.
In addition to its Pro Shop, driving range and putting green, Glyfada Golf Club in Athens, Aegean Sea, has facilities for meetings and social events for up to 2,000 people.
There is general agreement that the Scots were the earliest of golf addicts but who actually invented the game is open to debate. We know that golf has existed for at least 500 years because James II of Scotland, in an Act of Parliament dated March 6, 1457, had golf and football banned because these sports were interfering too much with archery practice sorely needed by the loyal defenders of the Scottish realm! It has been suggested that bored shepherds tending flocks of sheep near St. Andrews became adept at hitting rounded stones into rabbits holes with their wooden crooks. And so a legend that persists to this day was born.
