Welcome to the website of the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery, New Zealand's premier contemporary art museum and home to the collection of modernist filmmaker and kinetic sculptor Len Lye. The Govett-Brewster Art Gallery in New Plymouth offers a wide range of amenities and services to promote understanding of contemporary art and enhance the visitor experience.



In its buildings, the Gallery maintains and develops a contemporary art collection and presents a diverse programme of exhibitions and events. Through programmes that extend beyond its walls, the Gallery also aims to foster the development and interpretation of contemporary art by developing new audiences and new possibilities for artists within contemporary culture.



The Govett-Brewster Art Gallery houses a comprehensive research library and diverse video collection available for immediate viewing in association with the New Zealand Film Archive.



A number of function spaces can be hired within the New Plymouth Gallery for a truly different event venue.
