The story of Groot Constantia Wine Estate, the finest surviving example of Cape Dutch architecture in Constantia and one of South Africa?s foremost historical monuments and tourist attractions in the Western Cape, dates back to 1685. In that year Simon van der Stel, the popular commander and later governor of the Cape, was granted land for a farm, which he named Constantia. When he died in 1712, the property was divided and a smaller farm created around the homestead and its outbuildings.

Groot Constantia Wine Estate Wine Tasting in the Western Cape:
The legendary Wines of the Estate may be tasted and bought every day. The cost includes 5 Wines & international souvenir tasting glass, which bears the logo of the Estate. A shop, offering a selection of quality shirts, aprons and caps etc., is also located here.

Groot Constantia Wine Cellar and Cellar Tours: Guided tours through the modern cellar are offered daily from 10, 11, 12, 1, 2, 3 & 4 pm through out the year. Booking essential.

Evening Tastings in the Manor House or Restaurant with staff clad in period costume: The entire estate is a national heritage and fully operational farm. Although care is taken to make your visit as enjoyable as possible, visitors enter the premises at their own risk. We reserve the right of admission. We aim to make your day a memory to treasure in the most historical area of the Cape.

Cellar tour times:
Daily guided cellar tours every hour on the hour, first tour starting at 10h00 and the last at 16h00, 7 days a week.
