The phrase “Hair of the Dog that bit you” goes back to medieval times when dog bites were common. They could lead to infections and even amputations. It was believed that if bitten, a citizen must find the specific dog, cut off some fur and mix it into a paste to apply to the wound!

Today the phrase refers to the next morning hangover. It is commonly held that a drink of the same kind that “bit” you the night before will help cure the hangover. Maybe, maybe not, but after a few you don’t care. We recommend our World Famous Bloody Mary!

Founded in 1978, Hair of the Dog Saloon, Palm Springs is not very old as history goes, but she is a veteran of some 25 years of Desert Living. Currently Hair of the Dog Saloon Palm Springs is residing in the old Ruby’s Dunes Restaurant Building. This building , one of the first ever built in the town, was a favorite “watering hole” for such celebrities as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Peter Lawford, Sammy Davis Jr. and many more, who were traveling between Las Vegas and Palm Springs.
