Harriet’s Hideaway is a charming, self-catering, holiday cottage, one of six converted from a water driven sawmill dating back to the 1700’s. It is idyllically situated at the foot of the beautiful “Seldom Seen” ravine on the outskirts of the peaceful hamlet of Thornthwaite, close to Keswick in the Lake District of the United Kingdom.
Magnificent views of the Skiddaw mountain range can be enjoyed at the rear of Harriet's Hideaway, whilst a sparkling waterfall, tumbling down into the Comb Beck from the vast Whinlatter Forest above, is just a stones throw from the front door. The location of Harriet's Hideaway is truly idyllic, with lovely walking/cycling opportunities and wildlife, literally on the doorstep. A tea-room and local pub/hotel are nearby. Lake Bassenthwaite and the adjacent village of Braithwaite with its character Pubs, Restaurants and Shops are within walking distance. Only 3 miles away from Thornthwaite’s unspoiled tranquillity is the vibrant town of Keswick with all its varied indoor and outdoor amenities.
Harriet's Hideaway is fully gas centrally heated and double-glazed. It is decorated to the highest standards with modern attractive furniture throughout. It comprises two bedrooms, one of which is a family room with a double and a single bed. The other has a double bed, sleeping up to 5 persons in total. A cot, high chair and extra camp bed are available if required. The living room benefits from a Colour TV, DVD player and Video.
The kitchen / Dining facility at Harriet's Hideaway is well equipped with electric Oven/Gas Hob, Microwave, Fridge/Freezer, and a Washer/Dryer. The bathroom is brand new and incorporates a bath with shower over and screen, a hand basin and WC.
There is parking for 2 cars and up to 2 dogs are welcome, but sorry no smoking. All power costs/bed linen are included in the price.
