A group of enthusiasts led by Frank Ford placed an advertisement in the Hayling Islander for those interested in singing to attend an exploratory meeting at the Hayling Island Community Centre. Some 48 people attended and such was the enthusiasm that a steering group was formed to set up the Choir. The Choir has grown to 60 members, has purchased music scores and stage equipment, given money to a charitable cause and still has a positive balance in the bank. In addition the Hayling Island Choir had organised several social events and sown the seeds for an organization that 20 years later still offers a simple invitation to Islanders ... "Come Sing with Joy!"
The Hayling Island now has over 60 members and gives concerts three times a year as well as appearing as part of other events when requested. The Choir has a professional Musical Director and Accompanist. The Hayling Island Choir rehearse on Wednesday Evenings at 19.30 at St Patrick's Church hall, Hayling Island, Hampshire United Kingdom and
have regular social get-togethers, visits to concerts and also take part in massed Choir events where possible. The Hayling Island Choir welcome all who want to join them, there are no auditions but if you are a Tenor your arrival will be cheered!
