Hazel Bank Country Home stands in 4 acres of garden and woodland in an elevated position overlooking the village of Rosthwaite with unsurpassed views of the Borrowdale valley and the central lakeland peaks.
Hazel Bank Country Home, an imposing early Victorian residence was built in 1840 by a wealthy banker, Thomas Simpson, on his return from America to the valley of his forebears. Hazel Bank Country Home was to be the dream home for the Simpson family. Access is up its own private driveway over a humpbacked bridge, Simpson Bridge, where Hazel Bank Country Home stands proudly above the valley floor some 200 yards away from the main Borrowdale road, nr Keswick. Its situation provides a tranquil and peaceful location for walkers and tourists alike.
Hazel Bank Country Home has been receiving guests for over 60 years and the present owners Brenda and Glen Davies have been sympathetically restoring the house over the past few years. It now provides quality and well proportioned ensuite bedrooms with four posters, executive doubles, standard doubles and twin bedded options. All the rooms have spectacular fell and woodland views and are equipped and furnished to the highest standards to be expected of a comfortable country house. The award winning dining room offers superb dinners prepared from fresh local produce with homemade sauces and puddings accompanied by an agreeable selection of wines. To start the day there is a selection of juices, fruits and cereals followed by a wholesome traditional English breakfast. Vegetarian alternatives are provided by prior arrangement.
For the serious walker there is immediate access directly from the grounds to many well known peaks such as Great Gable, Dalehead, Robinson, Haystacks, Scafell, Glaramara, Lingmell, Great End, Grange Fell and Catbells. For those easier days there are pleasant walks
