Crail is an historic fishing village in Scotland situated 15 minutes from St Andrews and an hour from Edinburgh International Airport. The village has a variety of shops, galleries and tea rooms, a library, pottery and museum. The ancient harbour is reputed to be one of the most photographed in Scotland.
The light and airy bedrooms are situated on the first and second floors, and comprise a superior double with king-size bed, two doubles, one twin and one triple. All five rooms are en-suite with WC and shower. Second floor rooms have sea views over the village rooftops to the Firth of Forth and Isle of May.
A hairdryer and television are provided in each room, as well as toiletries and a welcome tray. The beds are richly upholstered and complemented with crisp white linen and cosy duvets. Crail's winding streets are full of character, and it is well worth exploring the many ancient buildings. Reminisce bygone days at the museum. Delve around the pottery and galleries for some colourful stoneware, impressions and prints, modern art, sculptures and jewellery. Stroll down to the harbour. Try a freshly dressed crab or even a lobster. Take a walk along the coastal path and maybe glimpse the dolphins. Or just picnic on the beach.
Crail stands on the fringe of beautiful rolling countryside and at the end of a chain of fascinating fishing villages. The Fife Coastal Path, with its stunning seascapes over the Firth of Forth, hugs the coastline and The Millenium Cycle Ways network allows exploration of the East Neuk. Amongst the attractions are Scotland's Secret Bunker, Cambo Estate, Kellie Castle, Falkland Palace, The Scottish Fisheries Museum and the St Andrews Farmhouse Cheese Company. Long sandy beaches are within a few minutes drive and a boat trip can be taken to view the seabirds and seals on The Isle of May. As well as its shopping and modern theatre, the historic university town of St Andrews offers fabulous botanical gardens, an aquarium and the most famous Golf course in the world.
