Established in 1986, Healthworks Fitness Centre are currently celebrating 20 successful years in the Fitness Industry. Family owned and operated, the majority of clubs are multi-facility centres offering tennis, squash, swimming pool, spa and sauna, in addition to group fitness classes, free-weight and pin-weight areas.

Toning up is achieved by reducing body fat whilst having an adequate amount of muscle. This includes having a balanced diet, whilst completing both cardiovascular and resistance training. You can look at toning up as having layers of fat over your muscles. Some people have a doona over their muscles whereas some have glad wrap so their muscles are clearly visible.
For the more mature athlete, training can be extremely beneficial. As a person ages, they will start to lose bone mineral density. As bone mineral density declines, the bones will become brittle and will be more susceptible to a break. However doing resistance training can stop the fall of bone mineral density and can even increase it. It is also important for older adults to start or continue resistance training as muscle mass also declines in old age.
