Right in the heart of the Old Town of Torun, literally a few metres from the Old Town Square and St. John’s Cathedral, the Hotel Gromada Torun has a truly excellent location. Moreover, Rapackiego Square is really easy to get to, especially with the railway station which lies only five minutes away across the bridge over the Vistula.
Formerly known as Zajazd Staropolski, the Hotel Gromada Torun belongs to the Gromada chain of Hotels. It is formed from three adjoining houses on Zeglarska Street, one of which is a masterpiece of Medieval architecture. The rooms are new and modern, with no specific style. They vary in terms of shape and size as a result of the peculiarities of the buildings’ irregular shapes. Apart from the typical singles, doubles and twins, there are studios and a suite. They have all been renovated recently to a high standard, with the ones on the top floor having mansard windows overlooking the roofs of the Old Town and the Cathedral. There is cable Internet in all rooms. The reception and restaurant give a slightly out-dated impression and remind one that this Hotel was created in the 1970s. The restaurant is, however, large and impressive with its high windows and red-brick elements. All in all, the Hotel makes for comfortable accommodation, especially for anyone who wants to be close to all of the attractions that Torun has to offer.
